People have been enjoying century eggs as a Chinese dish for more than 500 years. To make this unusual food, eggs are soaked in a mix of tea, lime, salt, ashes, and mud. Then, they are left in a cool, dark place to cure for a few months. When the egg is cracked open, it looks much different than a normal one. The part that is usually white has become dark brown, and the yellow yolk is now green or dark grey and smells strange. However, century eggs have a special taste that is creamy and delicious.
