There’s something magical about a train winding its way through a forest of tall trees deep in the mountains. In Chiayi County, the Alishan Forest Railway rolls beneath tall Taiwan cypress and pine trees. On the way, it transports people to a world of misty peaks and green valleys, where adventure and wonder are just around the bend. The Alishan Forest Railway was built by the Japanese back in 1912 to transport the logs and timber that they got from the deep forests.
